Winter Solstice Sunrise- Live from Ireland

Winter Solstice Sunrise
the not live version

Did you know that 2009 is the International Year of Astronomy? Timely, eh? Looks like there's a new push for science education as the Bush Era begins to fade. Or something.

Astronaut Theology: Invasion

I picked up a DVD of Invasion, a 1997 TV miniseries based on the novel, written the same year by Robin Cook. I didn't hold much hope for it- the cast wasn't filled with heavy hitters (Luke Perry, Kim Catrall and Rebecca Gayheart are the leads) and the production values on these sorts of things were rarely cinematic, to put it mildly.

Wyrd New Jersey: The Necropolis, or Ritual Done Right

The thing about New Jersey is that you never know what you might find hiding in plain sight. The place is so littered with arcane symbolism it's easy to take for granted. For instance, this cemetery in the rolling hills at the foot of the Skylands caught the attention of even a jaded symbol-junkie like myself.

That strange obelisk sans capstone is particularly interesting in and of itself, given that it's oriented to the cardinal points. Even more so when placed in context with some of the other items around it.

One Mithras Morning in Nashville

A lot of people have been talking about the very weird bombing event outside the AT&T building in Nashville. All kinds of strangeness seems to be emanating from it, all of which is quite interesting but has nothing to do with what caught my attention.

See, setting off an explosion on Christmas morning just screams "ritual" to me, and the AT&T connection only makes those screams louder.

Secret Sun Picture Parade: The Cosmic Ghost

Well, it's Sync Log time here on The Secret Sun: the previous post dealt with my encounter with a ghost-like anomaly, and sure enough HuffPost and NAZCA NASA team up for this juicy sync about some enormous black hole or something.

Atum Kadmon & The 40 Year-Old Virgin: Aquarian

The 40 Year-Old Virgin deals with Andy Stitzer, a sad sack stock room employee for a big box electronics store called Smart Tech. After his friends- Jay, Dave and Cal- discover Andy is a virgin during a poker game, they take it upon themselves to get him deflowered.

The (Secret) Sunrise: A Picture Story

This is how we do it: each image clicks to a link providing further information pertaining to the overall narrative. What is this story all about? You decide.

A Very Sirius Election: The Phoenix Goes Down

Another Mars probe, another mysterious system failure. Nazca, er, I mean NASA, has reported that the Phoenix has gone dead. Soon after another Phoenix went down in flames.

As above, so below, eh?

A Very Sirius Election: Stairway to Sirius

In the first installment of this series, we looked at the incorporation of elements of the hieroglyph for Sirius in the McCain/Obama campaign logos. Next we looked at what certainly appears to be a move to symbolically tie Sarah Palin to Isis and Sirius, starting with her speech at the RNC.

What we must remember is that the very term "president" comes from ancient ritual, as does his "inauguration."

The Siren: Sirius Rising

The first thing I'd like to do here is reframe this narrative. The prism we should see this through is that of the story of the theme song to what was at one time the most watched television show in the world, namely House MD.

The Eternals: Pyramid Power

Radiohead's 2001 classic "The Pyramid Song"-
the future Atlantis in a year of Revelation.

My two biggest influences from the pop art world are Jack Kirby and Chris Carter.

Not so much stylistic influences that I want to emulate, but artists who completely changed the filters on my life-lens. And both of whom deeply explored Astronaut Theology (aka "Ancient Astronaut Theory") to the point that it's a fair bet that they believed in it. So what does that say about me?

"The Green Oscars"

I was wondering why I put in my observation about the hidden 33 in the Bank of America logo in my Oscar sync post, but it turned out to be quite prescient; the entire stage set was filled with pairs and sets of threes.

Celebrating the 17th

Don't you think the blue and gold chairs go well with the rug?

Today is February 17th and today Barack Obama will be in Denver signing the "Stimulus Package" into law. He's chosen a very strange venue to do so:
The bill-signing, an unusual event outside of Washington, will be Tuesday at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science in City Park... "This is like a dream," said George Sparks, director of the museum." - Denver Post

Clownshow 2012: Every Picture Tells a Story

I like to play picture association games-- you show me a picture and I tell you what I see, you know, that kind of thing. So since the Republican Primary reality show is the talk of the town these days I thought I'd do one based on the clownshoe's candidate's campaign logos.
