Disclosure and its Discontents

Well, another ‘disclosure event’ has come and gone. I haven’t really been keeping track of how many there have been, but it seems as long as I've been paying attention to the UFO phenomena people have been making remarkable predictions of upcoming disclosures that have yet to come to pass.

Secret Sun Weekend Edition: 11/7/09

Two movies open today that we've looked at in the past: The Fourth Kind and The Men Who Stare at Goats. T4k is getting murdered by the critics, which doesn't mean anything, but I'll probably wait for the DVD. Goats is getting OK reviews but I'll wait to rent that too. Interesting conjunction with the Fort Hood situation, in a way.

Week in 17 Mini-Marathon (UPDATED)

Well, it's that time again- time to wrap up random news stories with significant mentions of 17s and try to discern any meaningful patterns within. Pretty quiet week overall, but then again my attention's been focused elsewhere.

Yahooccultism: Obamoon 17, or LCROSS bust?

So on this very strange day, this strange story makes the Yahoo! headlines. But first, did the LCROSS mission even happen, or was there a last-minute malfunction?

Horus Schwarzenegger

This one's going out to Jake: note the "falcons at your wrist" bit, and then read this...
Osiris came to Horus from the other world and exercised and trained him for the battle. After a time Osiris asked Horus what he held to be the most noble of all things. When Horus replied, "To avenge one's father and mother for evil done to them."

Yahooccultism: The Magick Number 9. Also, 17.

The big event of 9/9/9 was Barack Siskobama's health care speech, which may or may not signal his political resurrection. He let his worst opponents run wild over the summer which severely dampened the morale of his base. But he's been known to use playin' possum as a political technique, so it will be interesting to see if apparent return to form is all part of some ritual cycle. In that light, the photo credit there is certainly interesting.

The first numbers we heard from the New Tut were 700,000 and 1943 (=17). 17 is the 7th prime number.

A Deep Dive on The X-Files: I Want to Believe, part 1

If you asked most people what The X-Files was about, they'd probably say something about aliens and conspiracies and monsters of the week.

The 17th Hole

ITEM: Reader Daniel turned us on to this bizarre photo. A little green man with 17 emblazoned on his chest? Yep, sounds like 2009 to me.

Week in Review: McKinnon, China's Ubermen in Space

ITEM: China has set some pretty tough standards for its astronaut corps:
No scars, no history of serious illness in the last three generations of your family, and no tooth cavities.

Gus Grissom/Obama Meme Going Viral?

In the past 36 hours this blog has been bombarded with thousands of hits, after a Drudge Report-type site linked to part one of the Gus Grissom/Barackobamun piece. There were the usual corny old jokes about "tinfoil hats" and all of the rest of the worn-out snark in the comments sections (along with some stunning displays of poor reading comprehension), but that represents only a tiny percentage of the traffic.

Jack Kirby, Mindbomb: OK, This is Completely Insane

In my most recent extravaganza, I asked this impertinent question:
Is creativity a form of shamanic communion with forces beyond our ordinary experience? Are there certain individuals who are able to tap into the deepest recesses of consciousness where the gods are waiting?

Space/Gods: Mars, Moonshots and Masonry

Check out the Telegraph's gallery of Apollo UFO imagery

OK, I've got a lot of ground to cover here - I'm going to try to cover some of the weirdness aspects of Apollo 11, as well as all of the varying theories and controversies over it. But I did want to hit this story.

Must-See TV: Hangar 18

I'm catching up with work after my sick day so I thought I'd pass this old UFO classic that Bruce Rux chats with Tim Binnall about onto you all.

Astronaut Theology: Transform(er)ing the World

Let's recap: NASA is launching moon probes and alien hunters, Fox News is showing UFO footage released by the Mexican military. Europe has a space freighter ready to go. We haven't had any strange, fiery debris falling mysteriously from the sky recently, but it's only a matter of time until the next event, certainly.

Astronaut Theology: Shapes of Things to Come?

In one of the earliest posts I did on this blog, I looked at the mission logo for the Constellation program, with its hidden 3/17. What I hadn't seen then was the patch, which is triangular, rather than the usual circle.

BSG-UN-ISS-NJ-UFO

On Tuesday, that Day of All Days, cast and crew from Battlestar Galactica turned the United Nations in a high-rent version of Dragon*Con. True to form, Guinan herself moderated while wearing an extremely odd scarf decorated with what looks like alien skulls.

ISiS Spreads Her Wings on the Equinox

OK, let's hit the bases- Discovery is supposed to launch on Lincoln's birthday, is delayed until the Ides of March, when Caesar became Osiris. It then reaches ISiS on 3/17, accompanied by a strange, glowing orb.

And what does ISiS do on the Equinox?

Seen From Space: Flying Phalli

The Skylon flying vibrator Spaceplane

Reaction Engines Ltd. is yet another of the constellation of corporations popping up seemingly out of nowhere and producing science fiction spacecraft.
