Harlots, Hirams & the Halloween Impeachment

I'm sorry, I really am. I know politics has become a substitute religion for a lot of people these days, but that simply speaks to how little power people have access to anymore.

All These Things Must Come to Pass

Hello friends. Are you enjoying the Secret Sunification of the entire world?

You aren't?
Well, just don't say I didn't warn you.

Mithras Rising: Praetorian Spellcraft

Trump hasn't even taken office yet and already the country feels vastly different. You can literally feel the presence of the new Praetorian Guardsmen, the alpha-male's alpha-males who are insinuating themselves into the corridors of power.

It feels like a different country because it is one.

Revisiting the Temple: In Light of Recent Events...

Recent drama at the Vatican didn't happen in a vacuum. It's part of an ongoing struggle, a cold war that could shake the world to its foundations if it were to go hot.

The Star Wars Symbol Cycle: Son of the Suns

The Star Wars story-cycle is one of the most popular of our modern myths, but also one of the most garbled. For the original trilogy, George Lucas consciously drew upon mythic and religious elements (ransacking every myth, fairy tale, scifi story and comic book he could get his hands on, especially Jack Kirby's New Gods), but not always coherently.

Rihanna: She is the Darkness

Marilyn Manson called-
he wants his video back

Rihanna is one of these divas who are so preternaturally gifted and so heart-stoppingly gorgeous you wonder if she was grown in a lab somewhere.

Yahooccultism: Shroud it out Loud

Not that this will settle anything, but Italian researchers claim that the Shroud of Turin is a medieval fake:

Scientists have reproduced the shroud using materials and methods that were available in the 14th century, the Italian Committee for Checking Claims on the Paranormal said.

The group said in a statement this is further evidence the shroud is a medieval forgery. In 1988, scientists used radiocarbon dating to determine it was made in the 13th or 14th century.

Happy Birthday, Sweet 17

You've all read about the "Birther" brouhaha. All I can add is that no one seems to have learned anything from the Bush AWOL fiasco. No one except Barackobamun's handlers, that is. The whole birth certificate thing was a masterstroke- even Joseph Farah is back-peddling now.

By now, you've probably seen the Birther lawyer's meltdown on MSNBC, which is fascinating in that this lawyer felt compelled to leave the country soon after circulating the alleged document.

Secret Societies, Symbionese Soldiers and Sexy Socialites

USNews & World Report whips up some fresh Masonic recruitment propaganda under the dodge of a "Mysteries of History" collectors edition. Ostensibly, it's a look at secret societies throughout history, but the Freemasons get the lion's share of the page-count (and the front and back cover, as well).

A Friday the 13th Scenario

Is it just me or does it seem as if there is a massive and well-coordinated propaganda war being waged on the entire global banking system? Even The New York Times is calling the biggest banks "Dead Men Walking," and Arianna Huffington is screaming that the banks are "zombies" that should be "killed off."

And we just saw the nation's top bankers getting called in for a spanking in Congress.

"Obam the Hawk"

Holy Smokes, Secret Sun readers are sharp! Check out this catch from PJ:
The Mark of the Hawk (1957) The man called Obam (Sidney Poitier) struggles with the increasingly hostile forces facing each other in a colonial African country. The African natives want their land and lives back from the British colonists.

Super Ba'al XLIII Update: Running the Numbers

There are so many details swirling around us, so much data, so much symbolism that it gets to be overwhelming. We previously looked at the Templar-Vatican symbolism in the Super Bowl, but I overlooked the fact Kurt Warner's (the losing QB) jersey number is 13. (read "For Warner, Jersey No. 13 Is Emblem of Spirituality").

Super Bowl XLWhatever Semiotics

Two stars, and vaguely familiar stripes...

Well, today's the day of the "Big Game." The Pittsburgh Steelers will face off against the Arizona Cardinals in Tampa. The game will be aired on NBC, the "Peacock Network."* I find it especially interesting that the game is on NBC this year, since last Sunday they aired the excruciating TV mini-series adaptation of Raymond Khoury's The Last Templar, which starred New Jersey's own Mira Sorvino (who won an Ausur® for Mighty Aphrodite).

Maybe this is part three of the story.

Sirius Star: Pirate Fighters or Welcome Wagon?

Well, you knew this was coming. We're now going to have an international phalanx of warships in the Gulf of Aden and presumably, the Red Sea and Indian Ocean.

Atalante Rising

Sometimes you have to wonder if news items aren't sometimes made up of whole cloth and planted in the media to follow some weird ritual cycle, unknown to the general reading public.

This is one of those stories that seems more Morals & Dogma than Christian Science Monitor...

Looking for Signs at the End of the Age

"Tell the king; the fair wrought house has fallen.
No shelter has Apollo, nor sacred laurel leaves;

The fountains are now silent; the voice is stilled.

It is finished."
- The Delphic Oracle, 393 AD

When you reach the end of an age, the myths and the symbols that once defined that age begin to turn against it. Often in horrifying and merciless ways.

Stairway to Sirius: National Treasure

Please click to enlarge

As we saw, the Monolith Hotel brings a strange twist of Hollywood and Astronaut Theology to the Stairway to Sirius drama. However, 2001: A Space Odyssey isn't the only semiotically loaded film that has left a footprint on lower Manhattan.

A Very Sirius Election

One thing I've noticed - and that we've discussed here- is that Obama's campaign logo uses what is becoming the dominant symbol of our times, the Sun. And extra credit for the rising sun motif!

Dark Knight Templar

Of course the big story in pop culture this week is the record-breaking opening of The Dark Knight, the second installment in Christopher Nolan's radical re-imagining of the Batman franchise. Being the obsessive-compulsive that I am,
