"...But High Ritual Magic is Interested in You."
Playtime is over. Things are getting real.
You know all that crazy crap you've been hearing weirdos on the Internet ranting on about for the past 25 years? Well, it's no longer confined to a shadow-banned reddit thread, it's going live. You see it everywhere you look.

Beyond Synchronicity: Prophetic Dreaming
Dreaming and prophecy (or psi, if you prefer) used to walk hand in hand. Ancient religious texts- The Bible certainly among them- are filled with prophets who spoke (or listened) to the gods in their dreams.

Prometheus: "A Half-Billion Miles from Earth..."

Brookings was pessimistic about such an event, noting that societies don't tend to react favorably when confronted with a superior technological advancement.

The Curious Case of John Carter, Warlord of Mars

It's generally a tradition here on The Secret Sun to look at movies long after they've been in the theaters, usually because I like to take the time to analyze them on my computer screen. I also like to be able to post screenshots with captions, since what's being said is often as important as what's being shown.

From Sidon to Cydonia: Remembering David Flynn
Once upon a time, "occult" didn't mean sorcery or black magic, it referred to a corpus of ancient hidden knowledge whose meaning had been lost to the sands of time. It embodied alchemy, astrology, gematria, numerology and other symbolic sciences.

Rent "The Box" this weekend. Seriously.
Once in a very great while, an artist comes out of nowhere and channels the most ineffably unconscious currents of an age into pop culture artifacts. Often it seems as if these artists are only half-aware of what it is they are channeling. Richard Kelly is one of these.

Astronaut Theology: I Don't Know
Since the dawn of time, there have been reports of strange objects flying over heads. Since the 19th Century, with the advent of photography and motion pictures, we've had hundreds of thousands of images captured of this strange objects. Are they extraterrestrial spaceships?
I don't know.

Doctor Who Meets the Mushroom of Horus
The big "news" this week was the so-called "discovery" of water (or past evidence of it, rather) on Mars. Of course, they've known about all of that for ages, but the announcement was surely timed for some obscure/arcane purpose we can only guess at.

Alien Dreaming and the Widening Gyre
2009 is the Year of the Alien, innit? Well, at least in the movies. X-Files producer/director Bob Goodwin goes old-school with his tribute to classic BEM sci-fi with Alien Trespass.
Goodwin enlists John "Anubis" Doggett (aka T1000, aka Robert Patrick ) and Eric McCormack (Will of Will & Grace fame) for the invasion, as well as the delightful Jenni Baird, who added a bit of smolder to the last season of The 44oo.

Seen From Space: Big Week in Space News
Pretty much a puff-piece on SpaceX, but interesting timing nonetheless.
Number of alien worlds quantified
Intelligent civilisations are out there and there could be thousands of them, according to an Edinburgh scientist. The discovery of more than 330 planets outside our solar system in recent years has helped refine the number of life forms that are likely to exist. The current research estimates that there are at least 361 intelligent civilisations in our Galaxy and possibly as many as 38,000.
