A Very Sirius Election: Stairway to Sirius

In the first installment of this series, we looked at the incorporation of elements of the hieroglyph for Sirius in the McCain/Obama campaign logos. Next we looked at what certainly appears to be a move to symbolically tie Sarah Palin to Isis and Sirius, starting with her speech at the RNC.

What we must remember is that the very term "president" comes from ancient ritual, as does his "inauguration."

A Very Sirius Election: The Phoenix Goes Down

Another Mars probe, another mysterious system failure. Nazca, er, I mean NASA, has reported that the Phoenix has gone dead. Soon after another Phoenix went down in flames.

As above, so below, eh?

Stairway to Sirius, Revisited: Up from the Depths

There is nothing hidden that will not be revealed.
There is nothing kept secret that will not come to light. - Luke 8:17

This whole semiotic/synchronistic adventure started in Norway, with a strange aerial display and a host of symbolic aftershocks in its wake. It should be no surprise then that on the 17th we found ourselves in the ancient waters of Egypt, lifting up a stone pillar from the Gate of the Gods.

A Very Sirius Election: Lipstick on a Dog (Star)

We've seen how the iconography of the Obama and McCain campaigns incorporates different aspects of the Sirius glyph. We have the "star-making" joke equating herself with a dog (Pit Bull Terrier, in this case) that Sarah Palin recited at the Republican Convention, which reminds us that Sirius is the Dog Star and also that Sirius was equated with Isis:

Stairway to Sirius: Dream of Californicating

When I wrote about my struggle with conscious and unconscious symbolism the other day, it was based on the season finale of the Showtime series Californication.

Stairway to Sirius, Revisited: IndiAnnunaki Jones

No matter how far afield things might get here sometimes, I want to reiterate that The Secret Sun is a pop culture blog, that explores esoteric topics in the context of entertainment. So why do I cover political topics here?

Well, I agree with the late Frank Zappa, who said American politics is the entertainment wing of the military-industrial complex.

Stairway to Sirius, Revisited: Part 1

Synchronicity - significant coincidence - is a powerful thing. I've come to realize just how powerful it is and how unacceptable that power is to many people, even though they experience it themselves. A lot of people dismiss it (as a lot of you are aware of) and others strain for agency; acausality (or apparent acausality) contradicts everything we're conditioned to believe.

Stairway to Sirius: The (Pink) Star of the Sea

As I said on William Henry's show in December (and here as well) we need to be on the lookout for water symbolism this year, as well as mermaid/mermen and other symbols associated with Sirius in esoteric lore. I've recently explored these memes in depth, particularly as they relate to James Cameron, who is obviously very deeply obsessed with both aliens and the oceans (and Gus Grissom, strangely enough).

Clownshow 2016: Their Campaign Logos Speak the Unspeakable

This blog really found its voice during the 2008 Presidential Elections when I noticed that the two major candidates running for office seemed to incorporating the hieroglyph for Sirius in their campaign logos.

Or more accurately, the Stairway to Sirius.

Back From The Edge of the World (2009 Edition)

Front row: Christopher Partridge, Jeff Kripal and Michael Murphy
Second row: George Stephanopolous, Ed May, Dulce Murphy, Dean Radin, Victoria Nelson, Mason Gamble, Erik Davis.
Third row: Doug Moench, Paul Selig, Mitch Horowitz, Larry Sutin, CK, Collin Eyre and Scott Jones.
Well, Time flies and Time crawls. But sometimes you enter a state in which Time flows in such a manner that it seems to expand and contract in an entirely different and yet totally satisfactory fashion.

A Very Sirius Election: Phoenix Phlashback

Let's go back to this enigmatic shot of the Phoenix-on-Globe taken at the end of Obama's victory speech. I had almost forgotten there was quite a brouhaha among the far right conspiracy crowd during the Clinton years, pertaining to a similar brooch that Hillary and some other prominent Washington women wore.

Ritual Olympics: 17 Days in Vancouver

Well, I watched as much as I could take of the opening ceremonies of the Olympics and DVR'd the rest. I realize all of the symbolism comes from indigenous cultures, but these four statues seemed a bit more canopic to me, like the four sons of Horus, or the four funerary goddesses. Maybe a little of both. At the same time. Canada is very liberal about that kind of thing.

Witch Mountain: The Dog is a Major Issue

We went to see Race to Witch Mountain on Saturday and were all pleasantly surprised; it's actually a nice little sci-fi romp. I had considered checking out Knowing after reading that it too is alien-themed (isn't everything this year?), but realized the missus wouldn't enjoy the violence and I wouldn't enjoy the cosmology.

Stairway to Sirius, Revisited: I Am (That I Am) Legend

"Hey honey, look at that
crazy blue spiral in the sky!"

In the previous entry in this series I mentioned the strange synchronicities that coincided with Barackobamun's Nobel speech, as well as Will Smith's appearance at the Nobel festivities at a time when I was struggling through an analysis of his 2007 film, I Am Legend.

Barack Obama and the Masonic Martyr

If I had to guess, I would say that Barack Obama is a Freemason, possibly of the Order of Prince Hall, or more likely, in one of the many clandestine or affiliated Masonic orders. We have no documentation on that as yet, but it is certainly interesting that the Freemasons are holding their first-ever (public) inaugural ball in his honor.

Astronaut Theology: Osiris, the Star-Sailor

The ancient historian Plutarch tells us "That when Osiris reigned over the Egyptians he made them reform their destitute and bestial mode of living, showing them the art of cultivation, and giving them laws, and teaching them how to worship the gods."
