Apocalyptic Talking Points: Gene Genies

If the reports are to be believed, a Chinese scientist created the first gene-edited babies and of course they're Twins. Twin girls, to be precise.

The only people caught off guard by all this are those poor, benighted souls who don't read The Secret Sun. I'm thinking of starting a GoFundMe for them.

Shimmer Me Timbers: Annihilation Reconsidered

Well, in the grand Secret Sun tradition I am finally getting around to posting my thoughts on Annihilation, the recent(ish) sci-fi film starring Natalie Portman, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Tessa Thompson.

The TL;DR? I liked the film quite a bit. But I probably would have liked it quite a bit more if it were fiction.

It's (Mermaid) Apocalypse Now!

We shall swim out to that brooding reef in the sea and dive down through black abysses to Cyclopean and many-columned Y’ha-nthlei, and in that lair of the Deep Ones we shall dwell amidst wonder and glory for ever.

Apocalypse This Week: Shock Treatment

OK, so much entrainment, so little time. I'm a bit harried at the moment -- and there is so much going on all around us and so much being dumped on our heads -- that it's all rather overwhelming.

So let's dive in and I'll let all you very smart folks pick up the slack in the comments.

"The Women for Whom the Watchers Fell Shall Become Sirens..."

She's Watching you...

"It never ends" isn't some nifty little tagline I cooked up for dramatic effect. It's a blunt, objective statement of fact.

Case in point: an anonymous reader chimed in on the previous thread and dropped such a depth-charge on my humble little exegesis that I'm still feeling a bit woozy.

All of a sudden all kinds of dots previously floating around in the Ether have connected, logged into the quantum mainframe, and kicked this whole saga into a much higher gear...

That's Entertrainment: Fish Stories

Well, for the past several months I've been droning on about Mermaids and the Apocalypse and CRISPR and transgenics and chimeras, and everyone's gotten a good chuckle out of it. "Oh, that Secret Sun nutcase, howling at the Moon like a right old lunatic. Always good for a few lulz."

Well, I don't want to spoil anyone's fun but right on schedule we have a new film on Netflix called The Titan, which is about guess-what?

Mermaids and CRISPR and transgenics and chimeras. Plus, the Apocalypse.

Apocalypse Week in Review: The New Gold Dust Age

That looks comfortable.

Some of you might roll your eyes when I remind everyone else that Apocalypse means "unveiling."

But that's exactly what we are seeing now: all the goodies they've been toiling away on in Lucifer's toyshop since 1947 are getting their great unveilings.

Ready or not, the curtain's being lifted and your new reality is being rolled out. Pucker up.

Mermaid Apocalypse: Meet Your New Gods, Part One

Oh, you still think this Mermaid thing is just a fad, like vampires and zombies?

You poor soul. It will probably pain you to discover that this isn't about some fad, it's about the new religion.

Don't take my word for it; read this editorial in The Kentucky Herald-Leader, part of the nationwide McLatchy media empire. The sex-mad fish-man is not a monster, he is actually Jesus Christ incarnate.

Mermaid Apocalypse: Social Engineering through Memetic Overkill

A lot of people have asked me over the past ten years how you can tell if a symbol-set is circulating through the culture through synchronistic means as opposed to being injected into the culture by conscious design.

My answer has always been that if a symbol or meme is popping up at weird intervals and no one is paying much attention to it, then it's probably synchronicity.

On the other hand, if you're constantly getting hammered in the face with a symbol or meme, and it's the same goddamn note being struck over and over again, then that's a campaign.

2018: Same Great 2017 Taste, with 33% More Apocalypse!

"Some people are falling for it." Of course they are, because those mannequins don't look anything at all like oversized action figures. And the bumpkins and naifs who attend the Consumer Electronics Show aren't used to seeing these kinds of exhibits, right?

But hey, you gotta push those antihuman memes so what's a little white lie for the cause?

Better the Morgue than the Borg

There are so many different apocalypses in the news these days I'm having trouble keeping them all straight. The AI apocalypse, the Robot Apocalypse, the Carbon Apocalypse, the Antibiotic Apocalypse; I guess immanetizing the Eschaton is a lot harder than it looks.

Snapshots from the Apocalypse: Transgenics are Go!

There are a number of emerging themes and a new palette of symbols coming out of the Great Unveiling, which is now well underway. Chief among them are transgenics, smart cities and the Automation Apocalypse. We're getting hammered with these themes in the news lately, all part of a conditioning program in its late stages.

"Full of Ritual"

I'm not sure why The Guardian chose to write about it now, but the city of Perth has its arts festival coming up in February. And apparently the program for the festival is-- and I quote-- "full of ritual."

Of course it is. Because sooner than you think, everything will be.

Virtual Reality: The Future is Not a Straight Line

Since Darwin, the ruling class of the West has clung on to a new myth to replace traditional Christianity; the myth of linear progress.

You'll Be Godlike, Part One

Whoever wins the upcoming US Presidential election is going to find themselves in the unenviable position of being totally despised by one-half of the American electorate, to the extent that the country may in fact become ungovernable. That would be a tough, perhaps untenable, situation for the most talented politician.

That's a description I wouldn't waste on either of the leading Presidential candidates.  Not even close.

Lucifer's Technologies: Our Deal with the Devil Comes Due

Aside from Milton's Paradise Lost, Lucifer appears in another great literary work, also written in the 17th Century; Christopher Marlowe's Tragical History of Doctor Faustus

This treatment of the Faust myth predates Goethe's more famous version, and tells the story somewhat differently. But the basic contours of the story remain the same, that of a brilliant man who sells his immortal soul to the Devil in order to gain forbidden knowledge, a pact he believes will grant him advantage in this life.

Transhumanism Jumps the Shark

Let's just get this out on the table now - Transhumanism is still a pipe dream.

It doesn't matter how much H+ propaganda you see in the movies or on TV or in sci-fi novels or comic books, it simply doesn't exist as a practical science.
