2012 Olympics: London Mascots
Reader Brooke brought these to my attention- the new mascots for the London Olympics. And what a surprise- more aliens. These are faintly reminiscent of the Teletubbies, though the cyclops look is a bit disconcerting. The levitation bit is a nice touch, no?For casual readers not familiar with the repeating alien motifs attached to the Olympic Games, here's a nice primer from the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles...

Ritual Olympics: 17 Days in Vancouver
Well, I watched as much as I could take of the opening ceremonies of the Olympics and DVR'd the rest. I realize all of the symbolism comes from indigenous cultures, but these four statues seemed a bit more canopic to me, like the four sons of Horus, or the four funerary goddesses. Maybe a little of both. At the same time. Canada is very liberal about that kind of thing. Sunday, July 25, 2021
Crypto-Mithraism Gets Less Cryptic at Tokyo Olympics

Where have all the people gone?
Olympic Ceremonies have always been a reliable barometer when it comes to the current ruling-class mindset, particularly their religious mindset.
It's common knowledge that the Olympics began as a specifically religious festival (honoring Zeus, specifically) and were revived during the heyday of European Freemasonry and the Victorian fetish for the old gods. I've been looking at the games since the earliest days of this blog and I have to confess: the rituals on display this year are not exactly filling my heart with boundless optimism.

Ritual Olympics: The Cyclone and the Siren
We recently looked at how the appearance of a topless cross-country skier from Tonga seemed to be the most gripping story--for the media, that is-- during the opening of the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Earth Akhet Addendum: Plan (the) Nine from Outer Space
From the all-time classic, Plan 9 from Outer Space- a UFO (actually a hubcap) zooms by the old Mocambo nightclub on the Sunset Strip. Who's the headliner? Eartha Kitt.

Get Ready to Cringe: Battle of the Network Stars
I admit it- I'm easy to entertain. Why? Well, I think growing up in the 70s had a lot to do with it. Certainly everything marketed to kids was cut-rate and depressing, and the adults didn't have it much better themselves.

What a year, eh? It's been a very busy one here at the Secret Sun Network, a year filled of events ripe with some very familiar symbolism to longtime readers.
So let's get it on...
