Atalante Rising

Sometimes you have to wonder if news items aren't sometimes made up of whole cloth and planted in the media to follow some weird ritual cycle, unknown to the general reading public.

This is one of those stories that seems more Morals & Dogma than Christian Science Monitor...

LONDON – It was the equivalent of finding an old Picasso or an unknown Beatles tape hidden away in your uncle's attic. Relatives of Dr. Harold Carr (!) found an extremely rare 1937 Bugatti Type 57S Atalante — a Holy Grail for car collectors — as they were going through his belongings after his death. The dusty two-seater, unused since 1960, didn't look like much in the garage in Gosforth, near Newcastle in northern England.
But only 17 were ever made, and when it's cleaned up and auctioned in Paris next month, experts believe it will fetch at least 3 million pounds ($4.3 million) and possibly much more. Bugatti once represented the height of motoring achievement. The supercar was so ahead of its time it could go up to 130 mph (209 kph) when most other cars topped out about 50 mph (80 kph).
This particular car is even more valuable because it was originally owned by Earl Howe, a prominent British race car driver, and because its original equipment is intact, so it can restored without relying on replacement parts.
"It has all the finest attributes any connoisseur collector could ever seek, in one of the ultimate road-going sports cars from the golden era of the 1930s," said James Knight, head of the international motoring department at Bonhams, which will auction the car Feb. 7.
Let's puzzle through all of this: OK, I see 3/17, Holy Grail, 13 and a Knight. Interesting tidbits to whet your appetite. You could get fancy and link the Beatles not only to sun worship ("I'll Follow the Sun," et al) but also to the scarab, the royal symbol of death and rebirth.

A newly-discovered Atalante ties straight into the "Atlantis Rising" meme we've been following. Michael notes that, "Curiously, Atalante appears in the Tolkien universe as another name for Akallabêth (The Downfallen). It is the fourth part of The Silmarillion, and is the story of the violent destruction of the island Kingdom of Númenor, written by Elendil (elves)."

The 5th Earl Howe, Francis Curzon made his race debut at the age of 44, in the 1928 Irish TT with a Bugatti Type 43. Curzon was a fully-invested member of the British Crown (Privy Council, etc), and the first Earl Howe was a prominent English Freemason. Curzon was also born on Beltane, strangely enough, and the date of his death, July 26, ties straight into the Sirius Rising meme we are all scratching our heads about lately:
The first day of the 13 Moon Calendar, the New Year, begins on July 26. This date originally correlated to the heliacal rising of Sirius at 19.5 latitude north. The 13 Moon Calendar 28 day calendar has been in use for over 5500 years. From the Incan, to the Druidic count, to the Egyptian, to the Essene, to the Mayan, to the Polynesian, the 13 moon calendar has been used throughout pre-history as the harmonic standard, and is now being followed the world over by advocates of Galactic Culture!
From FAQ at 13moon.com The calendars that start July 26, may carry messages from the star Sirius, through the Sun, to the Earth ... Calendars that begin January 1, may be circulating energy from both Sirius and Vega, since the Sun aligns with those two stars at that time.
Strange and stranger still. Now, I have no reason to believe this isn't a completely legit story, that some lucky soul didn't simply discover the Holy Grail of race cars in an old, dusty garage. But damn if this story doesn't touch quite a few of the ritual bases.
