As Goes California...?

Note the Mithraic phallus protruding
from the face of the Sun.

Very few people outside of the LA area have heard of it, but Santa Barbara has a massive Summer Solstice parade every year.

It's interesting to see festivities that are essentially identical to the types of celebrations you'd see in the ancient world taking place today, in much the same fashion as the Burning Man and the Halloween parades. Of course, there's no reason to believe that this parade is some sort of precursor to a more explicitly religious type of Solstice celebration in the future.

But by the same token, there's no reason not to, either.
