Time and Thai, or Please Come Home for Mithras
I'm still collating the information we're hearing coming out of Thailand concerning the rescue of a boys' soccer team and their coach from a cave that was flooded by monsoon rains. I'm not going on record with any of this quite yet but we're seeing quite a lot of ritual and symbol tied up in all of this, both overt and perhaps somewhat less so.
Which makes perfect sense given the way things have been going this year.

Born to Kill
All right, this bullshit again.
I was planning to do a post about the anniversary of Chris Cornell's death but here we are. I don't have a lot to say about this that isn't being said already, mind you.

Trump, Templars and Meteor Magic.
If we analyse the principles of thought on which magic is based, they will probably be found to resolve themselves into two: first, that like produces like, or that an effect resembles its cause; and, second, that things which have once been in contact with each other continue to act on each other at a distance after the physical contact has been severed. It's Beginning to Look a Lot like Mithras.
I've been ranting on about Mithras since I opened this blog and lo and behold, Bloomberg finally premiere their new SPACE headquarters with the enclosed Mithraeum, smack dab in the middle of the Never-Ending Ritual. And a day after the Grand Lodge of England posted video of the Tercentennial at the Royal Albert Hall on Halloween.
I'm sorry; is this actually the real world or am I in some kind of Audrey Horne coma and am lucid-dreaming old Secret Sun posts all night and day?

Not safe for workish
Well, in honor of the holiday, there's a gallery of photos from the Beltane Fire Festival up on the Daily Mail's site to eye-gobble.

Virtual Reality: The Future is Not a Straight Line
Since Darwin, the ruling class of the West has clung on to a new myth to replace traditional Christianity; the myth of linear progress.

What Year is This? It's SecretSun16
What an interesting year this has been already.
Last year during the New Horizon mission to Pluto (and points beyond), I speculated that the real purpose of this mission was not Pluto at all but was in fact about searching the murky reaches of space beyond the former planet, specifically looking for Planet X.

Propaganda in the Classical Sense
Throughout history, cults of all sizes and shapes have created exciting dramas to spread their doctrines to the uninitiated. Many of the same elements we see in comic books, paperback SF and fantasy novels and Hollywood movies were first introduced in these stories, not as entertainment per se, but as literal propaganda, meaning as messages designed to 'propagate the faith'.

Memento Mori: Filip Coppens
Filip Coppens passed away in Los Angeles after fighting a rare form of cancer that was only merciful in that it did not prolong his suffering for too long. Some of you may now Filip from his appearances on Ancient Aliens but his work goes much deeper than that extremely reductionist presentation of AAT.

From Sidon to Cydonia: Remembering David Flynn
Once upon a time, "occult" didn't mean sorcery or black magic, it referred to a corpus of ancient hidden knowledge whose meaning had been lost to the sands of time.

Our Elusive Companions: They're Watching
What is truly amazing to me is that even though there are strands of commonality between these ultra-vivid nightmares/memories of mine and abduction phenomena, there's no narrative commonality.

Dog Days: The Hits Just Keep On Coming
That blue and gold Sol there is from a story in the UK press- the British company is paying off illegal immigrants at Calais to go back home. I guess wages have been driven down enough.
For the time being, at least.

Alien Hunter: The Secret Stargate Sequel
There was a sequel to the Stargate feature film, did you hear about it? No, not that glorified LARP of a series, Stargate SG-1. No, this sequel features James Spader reprising his role of Daniel Jackson.
