"I'd Like to Be in USA, Pretending that the Wars are Done"

It's funny: I keep hearing corporate media people claim Russia is only bluffing by moving what looks like at least a quarter of its active infantry (100K+ men-at-arms) as well as thousands of armored vehicles, and now, nuclear-capable artillery to the Ukrainian border.

I mean, I sure hope to hell they're bluffing, but that seems like an awfully big bluff.

Rituals Shall Be Habitual

America's favorite bath-salts overdose simulation is really ratcheting up the symbolism, same as everything else. That's allegedly supposed to be a phoenix, but it looks more to me like a space demon from some really effed-up 70s Japanese cartoon. And why wouldn't it, at this point in the timeline?

Egypt's Golden Parade: Smells Like Freem Spirit

Well, the Egyptian government held a big parade today, where 22 (Twinty-Twin, in Secret Sun parlance) royal mummies were put on display while being driven across town for some contrived reason or other. The prevailing opinion is that this is all meant to goose up the tourist trade, which has been hit hard by global shutdowns.

That could certainly be true. But I'm getting a strong vibe that there may be some Freemly frolics and secret society shenanigans afoot in the Victorious City.

F-F-F-Foolin'

It's that time of year again, time to look at the ancient fertility rites behind April Fool's. The practice seems to have lost a bit of its luster lately, but that could always change. Or rather, will

We Interrupt This Century to Bring You This Important Message

How miserable is this stinking new millennium? It's my little 'Nonnie turns 50 in October miserable. Kill me.

Yes, everyone knows the 21st Century is a bust. You know it, I know it, my dog knows it. Everyone complains about it, but no one ever does anything about it.

That is, until now...

Doing It for the Children

This seems like it's going to be a banner year for Knowles' Second Law. We're not even out of March and already we have the State of California mandating invocations to Aztec gods of human sacrifice. Now we have Lil Nas X enlisted for Cringeianity's (which some call "Satanism") latest effort to wrap their pasty, pudgy little fingers around America's young.

A Heroic Dose of Secret Sun

Feeling lost and adrift? Can't reconnect with the Source, the Ground of Being, the Great Universal Spirit? Maybe you just need a very strong course of Secretsun-Diethylamide-Tryptamine-317.

Studies have shown that patients who've received strong doses of Secret Sun recover 33% more quickly from spiritual malaise and dark spellcraft than patients who were given a placebo.

The (Not-So) Secret History of Saint Patrick's Day

Well, it's that time of year again, time to celebrate the Great American Bacchanal and bone up once again on the real origin of this holiday. With any luck, many of you may be going out and getting drunk on Wednesday, assuming your local officials aren't already drunk.

Drunk with power, I mean.

Something Smells Fishy with the Royal $cam

I'm getting the feeling that the pools and beaches will all be opened this summer. Why? Because the whole Mermaid thing is heating up in the news again. And of course the Pearly Princess and the Bastard Ginger are game to help push the meme.

Gimme That Old-Time Religion. OK, Maybe Not THAT Old.

You know the old saying: "The Secret Sun is always right; especially when it's wrong."

What I mean by that is OCD. Never discount the power of OCD.

Lucifer's Technologies, Revisited: Science is Not Enough

Ever happen to notice that for all the feted breakthroughs in technology, the fields that have gotten nearly all of the benefit are surveillance and high finance?

Ever happen to notice that all we ever seem to see are revved-up versions of old, sometimes very old technology?

Lucifer's Technologies, Revisited: The Missing Puzzle Piece

Of all the essays I've posted in the past 15 years on The Secret Sun, the Lucifer's Technologies series is far and away the one I get the most requests to republish.

The problem is that it was all written during an intense and feverish manic rush, a mad blaze of inspiration, and therefore isn't really the most coherent work I've ever done. I've started and stopped work on expanding it into a larger, more structured text a number of times, but there was always something missing, something I hadn't quite put my finger on.

Pathologizing Mystical Experience

As the great philosopher Red Miller once said, "a psychotic drowns where the mystic swims." I think some other mook said something similar, but he was probably just ripping off Red Miller anyway.

Red's wisdom jibes with my notion that the difference between a mystical experience and a psychotic break is the results. If it helps you get your shit together, it was an epiphany. If you end up riding off the rails, it might have been a psychotic break. Or a dark mystical experience. Same difference.

"Ultraterrestrial Agents of Cultural Deconstruction"

My family and I were discussing the Mandela Effect at Sunday dinner. My daughter-in-law wasn't familiar with it, so we looked up some ME listicles. I have to confess that I remember the conventional versions of history with most of the popular examples, and a lot seemed kind of stupid to me ("Flinstones" without a T? Really?).

But I do remember KitKat with a hyphen, I do remember "Proctor & Gamble" and I absolutely do remember Ed McMahon doing commercials for Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes, not Slappy Dick's Publishing Doohickey or whatever the fuck fake company was embedded into the timeline.

The Scam That Fell to Earth

Every few years someone comes along with big plans to get rich off flying saucers. They usually have a lot of money behind them and often have a few questionable friends. And every few years those people quite unequivocally lose large amounts of money on flying saucers.

See, there's no getting rich off flying saucers, because flying saucers are not something you should try to get rich off of.

Class is Now in Session

Whole lot of shaking going on behind the scenes here at Secret Sun Central. The first order of business is The Secret Sun Institute of Advanced Synchromysticism, which has opened its digital doors for students of the strange.

Twilight of the Spandex Idols

 It's over.

The golden age of superheroes, that began with the first X-Men movie and reached critical mass with Iron Man and The Dark Knight, then peaked with the Infinity War movies, is now winding down and wrapping up. The Zack Snyder movie isn't going to revive the genre, because the genre is exhausted and can't be revived.

You Left a Hole in the Back of My Head

When looking at the darkness that crept into Rock culture in the 70s and 80s, it's important to remember the darkness in the culture that was driving it.

And it didn't get much darker than Jimmy Savile and the Moors Murders, which couldn't help but have an affect on the collective consciousness at large.

Oh Mother Mercury, Look What They've Done To Me

It's Mercury Retrograde, so I'm trying to be wise and working on getting my archives in order and things of that nature. It's a huge and daunting task since I have thousands of posts on this platform alone.

But I'm also taking advantage of the retrograde to go retro. I'm cleaning up and reformatting a lot of old posts and getting them back up. Might as well take advantage of Blogger while I still can. After all, I gotta clean up and reformat everything anyway right?
