Role-playing games are just like anything else - they're just harmless fun, except for when they become deliberately weaponized. Despite what some of your Wiccan friends might have you believe, RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons have a very dark underbelly and can be directly linked to literally hundreds of very violent crimes.
The so-called hysteria over D&D in the 80s was like the so-called Satanic Panic; a reaction to very real (and very unsettling) crimes which was then whipped up into a ridiculous frenzy by the media. But was there another agenda at work?
LOL- of course there was.
Role-playing is an integral part of psychotherapy and mind control entrainment and evidence is rife that RPGs were used to recruit and groom violent criminals, including two notorious mass shooters. In a culture drowning in deep dissociation, RPGs, LARPs and cosplay are the last things we need to worry about. But here we all are.
