The Royal Scam: Fire on Babylon

OK, this is going to be some hit and run Synchromysticism. There's a lot to sort through and I don't have a lot of time so let's do this. Feel free to expand and expound in the comments section. I'll try to revisit this story if I can spare a few.

But yeah, this thing just keeps on shootin' out the synchery, so much so that I wonder what we're really seeing here. I get the feeling it's going somewhere weird and dark.

So talk about spending so much time staring at the trees I forgot the forest. This gala event is yet another Pearly pageant. Should we expect anything else?

Requiem fans note the Welsh origin. Thanks for readers reminding me of this factoid of crucialness.

And I realize I'm just a 90s damaged GenX'er, but does anyone else notice that Meghan Markle...

...looks unsettlingly like Fraserfarian Bene Gesserit priestess Alanis Morrissette? I don't have time to pore through photos but if you like, feel free to find more examples. It's slightly eerie.

Plus, ironic. Don't you think?

Maybe a little too ironic.

The great Paul Weston pointed out that "Greensleeves" was played at the wedding, a song English folk used to identify with Anne Boleyn...

...who was decapitated in the Tower of London exactly 482 years before the Royal Chymical nuptials. By Henry the Eighth. Don't know which Henry that Harry would be if he ever ascended to the throne (Henry is his birth name).

Apparently, Elton John flew in from Heaven or Las Vegas to serenade Harry and his Pearl.

Not sure if Jimmy Sham and the lads were invited to perform. They might have had another gig they couldn't get out of that night.

The big story was Episcopal Bishop Michael Curry and his rousing sermon. It kicked off with an interesting passage:
"From the Song of Solomon, in the Bible:Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; for love is strong as death, passion fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, a raging flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it."
Solomon's most famous courtesan was the Queen of Sheba, which is believed to have been in Ethiopia. Or Egypt. Or Yemen.

Why is this important?

Remember the Met Gala? And insta-star Cardi B dripping in her Pearly Drops in her Queen of Heaven LARP?

Well, the "Internet blew up" a week or so when it found out that Cardi's real name is Belcalis. Why is that important?

Well, because Belicalis is a variant on Bilquis, the traditional Arabic name of the Queen of Sheba, Solomon's favorite consort.

So Pearl, Queen, Sheba, Solomon. That's some proper name-game fueled magic there.

I mean, that sure is an interesting coincidence there.

Considering that Sheba is depicted as a witch, a Jinn, a Queen of the Demons and a "snatcher of children" in various folk traditions, why don't we read a bit more of the passage?
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned. We have a little sister, and she hath no breasts: what shall we do for our sister in the day when she shall be spoken for?If she be a wall, we will build upon her a palace of silver: and if she be a door, we will inclose her with boards of cedar.10 I am a wall, and my breasts like towers: then was I in his eyes as one that found favour.11 Solomon had a vineyard at Baalhamon; he let out the vineyard unto keepers; every one for the fruit thereof was to bring a thousand pieces of silver.
Ba'al Hammon, you say? What was I just telling you about those tophets, my friends?

The Song of Solomon aka the Song of Songs is an odd entry into the Biblical canon, seeing as how it's essentially ancient slash/porn. But as it happens, its origins don't lie in Hebrew tradition but in pagan sex magick.

Don't believe me? Well, just ask legendary Assyriologist Samuel Noah Kramer, Mr. Smartypants:

Ah, yes, the Siren and the Shepherd Boy. Of course. Plus, Pearls.

When will you believe, brothers and sisters? When will you cast aside your pride and believe the Sibyl?

Hopefully not before it's too late. There are one devil of a lot of songs yet to decipher.
Back to the Right Reverend's homily:
My brothers and sisters, that’s a new heaven, a new earth, a new world, a new human family. And let me tell you something, old Solomon was right in the Old Testament: that’s fire.
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin – and with this I will sit down, we gotta get y’all married – French Jesuit Pierre Teilhard de Chardin was arguably one of the great minds, great spirits of the 20th century. Jesuit, Roman Catholic priest, a scientist, a scholar, a mystic.
In some of his writings, he said, from his scientific background as well as his theological one … in some of his writings he said – as others have – that the discovery, or invention, or harnessing of fire was one of the great scientific and technological discoveries in all of human history.

Oh, my; if the bells and whistles aren't sounding now then I have failed you and I apologize. Because for that I will truly be judged and found wanting.

Who was Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, Society of Jesus?
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin was among the first to give serious consideration to the future of human evolution. His work advocates both biotechnologies (e.g., genetic engineering) and intelligence technologies. He discusses the emergence of a global computation-communication system (and is said by some to have been the first to have envisioned the Internet).
He advocates the development of a global society.
Teilhard is almost surely the first to discuss the acceleration of technological progress to a Singularity in which human intelligence will become super-intelligence. He discusses the spread of human intelligence into the universe and its amplification into a cosmic intelligence.
Ah, yes. The spiritual godfather of the New Age movement. AND Transhumanism and Post-Humanism. AND the New World Order.

Read up, my friends. You'll be hearing a lot more about Father Chardin in the days to come.

Back to Brother Michael's homily:
Fire to a great extent made human civilisation possible. Fire made it possible to cook food and to provide sanitary ways of eating, which reduced the spread of disease in its time. Fire made it possible to heat warm environments and thereby made human migration around the world a possibility, even into colder climates.
Fire made it possible … There was no Bronze Age without fire, no Iron Age without fire, no Industrial Revolution without fire. The advances of fire and technology are greatly dependent on the human ability and capacity to take fire and use it for human good.
Yes, we all Need-Fire.  Even frou-frou foxes need-fire.

OK, HUMOR ME. CAN YOU DO THAT?

OK, humor me. Can you do that? Just for a moment?

I mean, am I so, so, so crazy to make the jump from a passage that is plainly recognized as Sumero-Akkadian-Babylonian to a certain Sumero-Akkadian-Babylonian fire-god some of you may remember? Namely....

AKA Girra, AKA LU.GIS.BAR.

AKA ....awww, you know who. Come on, now.

This just in- from Britain to Britney, by way of Orange. Plus, Tarot.

No, not that Tarot.
